Reconsider the Death Penalty in Singapore

In response to an article titled “Calls to abolish death penalty ‘do not focus on victims of drug trade’” (TODAY, Sept 27 2014), our Director, Ms Priscilla Chia wrote a letter to the newspaper addressing the points which the Minister for Law and Foreign Affairs was reported to have raised. An edited version of the letter titled, Crucial to substantiate deterrent effects of death penalty”, was first published in the TODAY newspaper’s Voices section on 6 October 2014. We reproduce her letter in full below.
